The Raft

The RAFT – operated by the Niagara Resource Service for Youth contributes to the welfare of our community by helping at-risk youth, families and neighbourhoods become independent and self-sufficient.

Their services strengthen the emotional and social well being of clients and act as a portal to community resources.

Services are based on the principles of Empowerment, Quality of Life, Dignity and Respect. Services are provided in a supportive and caring environment which encourages independence and self-reliance.

They believe that helping clients take control of their lives builds self-esteem and confidence while empowering clients to become fuller more involved members of their community.

They need Niagara’s help filling the bags with any gift that you think a 16 – 24 year old youth would appreciate!

Some items to consider would be winter clothing (hats/gloves/jackets), Gift cards, Socks & underwear, Toiletries (razors, deodorant, body wash, etc.)

Underdogs Boxing Club

There is still time to donate to the GoFundMe that goes towards Shape Your Life Participants https://www.gofundme.com/help-change-lives-at-underdogs

  • Shape Your Life provides free, non-contact boxing for self-identified women who have experienced violence.

Underdogs Boxing is home of Shape Your Life Boxing – Niagara where participants share with them things like: “I’ve never felt this strong,” “I had no idea I could do something like this and it feels great,” and the one that really got them this past weekend, “I find my posture has improved AND that it carries over into the rest of my week.” She is talking about LITERALLY walking taller.

Then, there’s their members. People who say things like, “I’ve never felt welcome at any other gym,” “I know I’ve only been to a few classes, but you’ve already had me do more than I thought I could,” “I like it here, because you don’t yell at us,” and people who thought or who had been told they couldn’t do push ups are doing 10 or more because they’re being encouraged by supportive coaches.
