Friday January 5th

Karaoke with Rob Cole, starting at 7pm at The Geekery Pub located at 7000 McLeod Road Unit 8 in Niagara Falls. Go sing!

Penguins of Madagascar Craft & Movie, 6 to 8:30pm at Smithville Legion Branch #393 located at 172 St.Catharines Street in Smithville. $5 gets you a craft bag for 3 crafts, 1 hot dog, 1 drink and a bag of popcorn or chips.

Kapture & Bike Thiefs at Warehouse, 8pm at the Warehouse located at 11 Geneva Street in St.Catharines. $10 in advance, all ages show.

Cooper & Iron at Jordan House Tavern, 9pm at the Jordan House Tavern located at 3791 Main Street in Jordan Station. No cover charge.

Falls Fireworks, 9pm, weather permitting.

Saturday January 6th

JUMPHAUS Official Grand Opening, 9am to 12pm at 62 St.Paul Street in St.Catharines. This event will include free classes, giveaways, special offers and more. You can sign up for the two free classes happening during the opening on their website – www.jumphaus.ca

Open Indoor Horse Riding, 10am to 5pm at 7402 Mud Street West in West Lincoln.

Teddy Time Tales, 10:15am to 10:45 am at 425 Carlton Street in St.Catharines. This is a family library event. Ages 5 and under & their families. Meet in the Children’s Area every Saturday for 30 minutes of storytelling. Bring along your teddy!

Checkers Magic Show, 11am to 12pm, at the Fort Erie Public Library located at 89 Ridge Road South in in Ridgeway. The Checkers Show is a high energy show that combines comedy with amazing stunts, unicycling and juggling for a magical and fun experience. The performance follows Checkers and his spectacular inventions, as he goes on a fun journey with the audience! All Ages. Tickets available in advance at any branch of the library. Free, thanks to a generous donation from Brodies Drug Store.

Junior Creative Writers, 11am to 12pm at the Niagara On The Lake Public Library located at 10 Anderson Lane in Niagara On The Lake. creative writing exercises designed to inspire young writers and help them find their flow. Each hour-long session features multiple activities to help access imagination, develop writing skills and gain confidence in writing. The focus is on creating a fun atmosphere where creative expression is safe, playful and engaging.

St.Catharines Baby Box Community Event, 11am to 1pm at YFC/Youth Unlimited St.Catharines located at 226 Merritt Street in St.Catharines. All expectant and new parents with a child 3 months of age or younger in Ontario, are eligible to receive a free Baby Box! All Baby Boxes include a firm mattress, waterproof cover and fitted sheet, along with a bag of newborn essential items such as diapers and lotion for baby, and breast pads and breast milk storage containers for mom! Reserve and register for yours online.

Potty & Play for Puppies, 12 to 2pm at Petsmart located at 40 YMCA Drive in St.Catharines. Talk with their puppy experts about all your puppy’s needs. There will be a free potty training seminar from 12p-1p by one of our accredited trainers, coupons and a free giveaway!

We Are Wainfleeters, 1 to 2pm at Wainfleet Public Library located at 31909 Park Street in Wainfleet. This is a book launch.  The book consists of 315 Wainfleet residents, displaying both color and black and white photos, and compiled into 78 pages. Niagara IceDogs Vs. Sudbury Wolves, starts at 7pm at Meridian Centre located at 1 IceDogs Way in St.Catharines.

Frego’s Saturday Night with Dave Rose, 9pm to midnight at Frego’s Grillhouse and Bar located at 312 Lake Street in St.Catharines. Live acoustic set.

Sunday January 7th

Patrol Pals Meet & Greet at Boston Pizza, 1 to 2pm at Boston Pizza in Niagara Falls located at the Americana Resort, 8444 Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls. Colouring pages, meet your favourite Paw Patrol character and a chance to win passes in the indoor water park.

Niagara IceDogs Vs. Kingston Frontenacs, starts at 2pm at the Meridian Centre located at 1 IceDogs Way in St.Catharines.

Open Mic, 3 to 7pm at Rigs Sports Pub located at 455 Merritt Street in St.Catharines. Rock, pop, jazz, blues. Mixed musical talent from all over, hosted by Mark Swayze.

Silversmith Brewing Company Presents Nicole Lisa Craig, 3 to 5pm at Silversmith which is located at 1523 Niagara Stone Road in Niagara On The Lake. Live Music.

Monday January 8th

Tuesday January 9th

Art Buddies, 4 to 5pm at the Pelham Public Library located at 43 Pelham Town Square in Pelham. Learn a new Art Technique.

Business After 5 presented by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, 5 to 7pm at the Keg Steakhouse & Bar on the 9th floor of Embassy Suites Hotel located at 6700 Niagara Falls Blvd in Niagara Falls. Admission is free, there is no registration required for this event. Bring business cards, this is a networking event.

Wednesday January 10th

Spill The Tea, 5 to 7pm at the Brock Student Justice Centre at Brock University in St.Catharines. An honest conversation with the Decolonize Deconstruct team about sex, dating pressures, desirability, campus culture & more. Tea and refreshments will be served.

Winter Stitch n B*tch, 7 to 10pm at The Geekery Pub located at 7000 McLeod Rd unit 8 in Niagara Falls. Share your ‘craft’, paint, draw, sew, sculpt, anything goes. This is an all ages event.

Paint Night at Peter Pipers, starts at 7pm. Peter Pipers Pubhouse is located at 111 Highway 20 East Unit 3 in Fonthill. Presented by Reccas Crafty Corner, $30 all supplies included call 905 736 4455

Homelessness in Niagara presented by the Niagara District Council of Women, 8 to 9:30pm, St.Catharines Public Library located at 54 Church Street in St.Catharines. Public Speakers include Rob Cammaert from Bethlehem Place, Elisabeth Zimmerman from YWCA Niagara, A.J. Heafy from Niagara Falls Community Health Centre and Bob Barkman from Community Care RentSmart

Thursday January 11th

Bridging Our Future – Closing Reception, 4 to 6pm, 3rd floor of St.Catharines City Hall located at 50 Church Street. More than 200 people helped create this mobile mural during 2017 Pow Wow in October at Montebello Park. The mural is made up of five canvases designed to be displayed together. It explores a vision emerging from First Nations culture, as well as new connections and friendships, between Native and non-Native peoples.

This is not a drill: a 21st Century Feminism Workshop, 5 to 6:30pm at the Brock Student Justice Centre at Brock University. This workshop will discuss women in the workplace, academia, the political role of women, women in the resistance, the changing face of feminism, modern barriers to success and tools for overcoming hurdles in 2018.

MAMA Vision 2018 – Badass Business Series, 6 to 9pm. This year starts with a vision board and 2018 planning session that breaks your year into quarters with goals and accountability.  Vision Board workshop make and take, Goal Map for 2018 Inspiration and passion. Really fun a event for the benefit of YWCA Niagara. I am on the promotions and marketing committee and will be volunteering throughout the event, I look forward to seeing you there!
Congratulations to the Niagara Anti Racism Coalition for peacefully counter protesting against a group of self identified white supremacists earlier this week. They ended their protest early and you showed them that there is no room for racism, bigotry, discrimination or hate here in Niagara. Keep fighting the good fight.
